The Raleigh Aquarium Society (RAS) is pleased to announce the return of its Carolina Aquarium Workhop on October 11-13, 2024 at the Millenium Hotel in Durham, NC The workshop features 3 speakers (5 talks), a shrimp bowl contest, vendors and a “swap meet/tag sale”, a field trip to East Coast Koi Imports, a banquet, and our signature auction of aquatic fish and plants. Our workshop is a unique opportunity to share information and enjoyment with amateur and professional aquarists and this will be our 37th workshop!
Registration
Admission (i.e., for buyers) to the Vendor Room and Swap Meet/Tag Sale area is free and no pre-registration is needed.
For CAW itself, there are three main registration options for attendees. All options include the Saturday Banquet and full participation in all events. Note that below, the cost for “club members” is lower than non-members. Club members include RAS members, as well as other established clubs, such as JRAS (Virginia) or CAC (Charlotte). Registrants should be prepared to show evidence of current membership status.
Admission to all CAW events (including the banquet), but no table. Cost: $45 (club members).
Admission to all CAW events + table space to bring in your own items (i.e., fish, plants, shrimp, tank equipment, etc.). Registration is for hobbiests bringing their own stuff as opposed to stuff they are reselling as part of a business. Cost: $50 (club members).
Admission to all CAW events (no table) for non-club members. Cost: $55.
Day Pass for Saturday talks (excluding Banquet Talk). Cost: $20
Note: children under 16 are free for all events.

The third CAW shrimp contest is open to all participants of RAS Carolina Aquarium Workshop who breed shrimp. Signup and more info here:

Field Trip to East Coast Koi Imports
Bobby Wang will showcase his 20 years of experience in koi keeping at his import/grow out business East Coast Koi Imports in New Hill, NC. The pandemic changes include him not offering regular open hours. This is a unique opportunity to see incredible koi directly imported from Japan and learn about how he manages his livestock. Our group will meet there at 10am and have a tour of his facilities.

The Millenium hotel is located at 2800 Campus Walk Avenue, Durham, NC near the intersection of I85 and US 15/501. A special room rate of $95/night (plus tax - and free breakfast) is available through Sept 27, 2024 using the link here.
